Welcome to the Catholic Apostolic Church of the Holy Cross

We are part of the “One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church” which is the mystical body of Christ. We are a Catholic Church because we affirm the creeds of the universal Church and an Apostolic church because we share in the Apostolic Succession, an unbroken line of valid orders and sacraments coming from the Apostles through multiple lines of succession.

Founded in 2007 as the "Companions of the Cross and Passion" we remained an autocephalous order in affiliation with three different but connected jurisdictions until May 2011 when the connection with the Church of the Divine Mysteries (EADM) was dissolved. It was felt by the Companions that our order had come of age and was ready to become an Independent Catholic jurisdiction in its own right.

As our church is theologically liberal and liturgically traditional we might most aptly be labelled "liberal traditionalists". Our normative liturgy is the Liturgy of the Liberal Catholic Church, but other Catholic, Orthodox or Anglican liturgies may be used according to local custom and the preference of the clergy and people. We have a preference for the ad orientem position and generally do not approve "inclusive language" liturgies or bible paraphrases.

Some of our clergy are married and some are single. Some are gay and some heterosexual. Some lean towards a gnostic or esoteric approach whereas others could more easily be described as orthodox. We are therefore a very diverse community, united in our commitment to living and teaching authentic life-enhancing spirituality in general.
